I was checking out this website that has a timeline of the decrees of various Roman Emperors in respect to religion at Fourteenth Century Religion. On September 27, 365, in the time before Christianity became compulsory, but after it was being officially promoted, I find a decree from the Christian Valentinian I: "No one may leave the bread-making profession to become a Christian clergyman. Anyone found to have done such must return to his profession."
I agree. What could be more imporant than baked goods?
