I was checking out this website that has a timeline of the decrees of various Roman Emperors in respect to religion at (http://www.fourthcentury.com/index.htm?http&&&www.fourthcentury.com/Theodosian/CTh16.htm). On September 27, 365, in the time before Christianity became compulsory, but after it was being officially promoted, I find a decree from the Christian Valentinian I:
"No one may leave the bread-making profession to become a Christian clergyman. Anyone found to have done such must return to his profession."
I agree. What could be more imporant than baked goods?
