Among various odds and ends this weekend, I came across reference to an artist who is a Renaissance Man and a half. He was a principal dancer in New York's Metropolitan Opera Ballet, and had his own troupe; he won a Guggenheim Fellowship for painting; and won Tony Awards for both directing and costume design. That's an incredibly wide range of acclaim, in about the upper-crustiest realms of arts society there is in this country.
Nonetheless, he is primarily known for this. Well, and his awesome Baron Samedi.

Oh, poor guy. I always feel bad when people who are really talented get well-known for the dumbest (yet probably best-paying) gig they ever do. LOL
